Members of the high school's Honor Society gather around a pallet filled with nutritionally complete meals they helped pack at the Tacos 4 Life MobilePack School Challenge at the Conway Expo Center on March 29.
This was a cooperative effort involving nearly a dozen schools from Central Arkansas. About 1,500 students working two-hour shifts over two days packed 240,000 meals that will feed more than 800 starving children in faraway places for an entire year.
These hand-packed meals, which are distributed by the non-profit entity Feed My Starving Children, are easy and safe to transport, are culturally acceptable worldwide, and are simple to make with boiling water. They contain rice, extruded soy nuggets, vitamins, minerals, and dehydrated vegetables.
