Girl Earns Blue Ribbon

Annalise Seabolt, a freshman here at St. Joseph High School, recently won "Best in Show" at the Faulkner County Fair for her dill pickles. She also won 2nd Place for her wild plum jelly. She comes by her skills naturally having learned them at the hands of her grandmother, Gigi, from Mount Pleasant, Texas.

"Annalise spent a couple of weeks there this summer learning food preservation and canning techniques," her mother, Jodi, said. "Homemade pickles and wild plum jelly are two of our family favorites." The grandmother started making them both over 50 years ago but hadn't in a couple of decades until Annalise showed an interest in the "lost art" of canning.

"She loves to cook and try new foods," her mother added. "She's already thinking about what she can make next summer for the Faulkner County judges to enjoy!"
