Peace Poster Entry

St. Joseph High School 8th grader Caleb McGinty's artwork was recently chosen to represent the school in the annual Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest. It's sponsored locally by the Conway Evening Lions Club. Art teacher Penny Bassham organized St. Joseph's competition.

For more than three decades, Lions Clubs around the world have been sponsoring the contest in schools and youth groups. It gives young people in the age range of 11-13 years the chance to express their visions of peace and to inspire others in the process.

The theme of this year's competition is "Peace Without Limits." Caleb's poster, along with a written explanation of his vision, will be judged at the district and possibly state level. If it moves on to the International Contest he could receive a trip to the judging ceremony where he could win an award and a $5,000 prize.
